Miracles

Dear Family,

For starters, i know that zach is waiting on his mission call but just so you know for the past two weeks Ive had my comp taking a video of me opening up my email to see zachs call. But, now we just got two videos of my expressions of learning that your call didnt come jajaja its some good stuff. Im pumped though!!!

So as you can see from the photo down below, Elder Merrell and I had a baptism. Her name is Rocio and with her is her baby named Juan David. The bishop did the ordinance of baptism. It was such a great miracle you all wont even believe it.

She has been going to church for about 6 months but couldnt get baptized because she had to get married. But in the last week she broke up with her boyfriend and a lot of crazy things went down. To make a long story short we had a lession thursday night and invited her to be baptized. At first she said no, but after the help of one of the members she said that she would think about it. 

The next morning we go and see her with the member and she tells us that before she went to bed she read some church literature, prayed and then went to bed. While sleeping she had an amazing dream that basically told her that she needed to get baptized. So she told us all this and that she wanted to be baptized. My comp in I were amazed in the way that Heavenly Father answered her prayer. I was so happy and couldnt believe it. So we planned a baptism in one day and all went well. 

This was a great miracle and I am so greatful to one of the missionaries here to see it. 

How do I know Heavenly Father loves me???

I know Heavenly Father loves me because He gives me tests. I know He loves me because sometimes He lets me struggle. Heavenly Father gives us exactly what we need in life not only to become good missionaries, good parents, or good members of the church. He gives us what we need for our eternal progression. He gives us exactly what we need when we need it to ¨become like God¨. Sometimes it is hard to think in an eternal perspective but I am grateful for everything Heaveny Father is giving me so that I can learn. I know this church is true and I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior.

Weekly Letter - 25 Ago 2014

Dear Presidente,
I dont even know where to begin. This week in our are and in the whole zone was amazing. We have so many people that are asisting the church and that are progressing. It is amazing to see all the changes that are happening. The hermanas de 25 de Mayo B got the standard which was great. Also, it looks like there will be about three or four baptisms this week in the zone. Our area is doing so great! Our investigadora Rocio got baptized saturday. It was a very special experience because she thaught she would never get to be baptized but Heavenly Father literally opened door after door so that she can go to Santiago Del Estero with the gift of the Holy Ghost. Miracles really do happen. She has a 1 year old son named Juan David that has been presented in the church and will some day be a future missionary. This gospel changes lives forever. Elder Merrell and I are doing great! We are pumped and we want some more. We still have some big goals that we want to complete together. Im doing great. The baptism of Rocio got me excited and not only that but help me in my eternal progression en entender the importance of what it means to be a missionary. I am thankful for my calling and for all the experiences that Im having. I know this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ here on the earth. Thank you for everything. Have a great week!

Never too late

Hey family,

 

Sorry im writing late but we had another argentine holiday so just about everything was closed and there is only one cyber web thing in this whole city. But all turned out well. Here are some pics of an activity that we had in the church. its called ´Pollo al disco´ which is chicken in a disc. It was some good stuff. 

 

I want to share my testimony that I know there is purpose to what Im doing here in argentina. I know that God exists and that He has a son, Jesus Christ, who gave His life so that we can enjoy ours. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is the iron rod the we can hold tight to. I am thankful for this gospel and I know Ive been blessed with an eternal family.

Dear Presidente,
Sorry that this is late but the ciber was closed on Monday. Things are going really great here. The zone is having a lot of people that are going to church and look like will be baptized. We just got to focuse on enduring to the end and not getting complacent. Our are is doing really good. Ive never seen a barrio with members so excited to get some work done. The main focuse of our Consejos de Barrio is about the obra misional. Elder Merrell and I are doing great. We are sure that we are going to see some big miracles in this ward. PILAS Y FILAS. Im doing great and am just studying more about how I can become more like Jesucristo. He is the best example of a Lider. Thank you so much for everything.

Como anda?

Hey Familia,

 

This week was another one for the record books! Im just loving life and loving the mission. I had the chance to go running this morning to get some excersize with my comp and I was thinking about how many great things Ive seen in my time as a missionary. It almost been about a year and a half and I have so many great experiences and have learned so much. It is crazy to think about all the experiences and things Ive learned from my mission so for. What gets me even more excited is to know that I still have more time to learn, grow, and progress. I love being a dicsipulo of Christ and to where His name along with my own.

 

Some great things are happening here in my area. Its called Cinco Saltos, which means 5 jumps. The members here are helping out like I have never before seen in my mission. They are inviting us to teach their friends and asking to come teach with us. I have no idea what we are doing to see so many great miracles from our Heavenly Father much I am sure thankful for every last one of them. 

 

But the miracles dont stop there. One of the families that we are teaching has given up drinking and smokin. The husband, Gabi, went from smoking one and a half packs of cigarrets daily to maybe 1 a day or not at all. This is the family that I talked about not to long ago that was really prepared to hear the gospel. I am so excited to see what will happen with them but one of the thing I have learned is to be patient; Heavenly Fathers has a time for everything. 

 

Friday my comp, Elder Merrell and I gave a training for the missionaries in our zone. One of the things we talked about was sacrifice. Something that hit me in preparation for this training was the importance of all the small and simple sacrifices we can make in our lives to have the spirit with us. Its like the scripture in Alma 37:7 that says by means of small and simple things Heavenly Father does great things ( im translating the scripture from spanish to english in my head so bear with me jaja). And that so true. Life is made up of little descisiones everyday that either invite the spirit in our lives or not. Of course we will always be faced with big desciones in our lives but based upon our little desciones in the past we will be bettter prepared to cross the big bridges in life when they come. 

 

I am so thankful for this gospel in my life. I am so thankful to be representative of Jesus Christ here in Argentina. I wouldnt change this opportunity for any other....even playing football at BYU. I am grateful for the prophet Joseph Smith and know he restored the gospel. I love you all so much and if you find yourself in a hard spot in life, go back to the basics.

Weekly Letter - 11 Ago 2014

Dear Presidente,
This week has been so great! The consejo was awesome and got me excited to go out and help the zone get pumped on the spirit. The power of the spirit can do so many great things in a zone. Honeslty I can feel a big difference in this last zone capacitacion that we had this last week. The zone is doing great and they have las ganas to work hard and see miracles. A lot
of fechas fell this past week but the goal is to put them again and help the investigatores get to church. In our area we are seeing so many great miracles it is unbelievable. One family invited us to start teaching their next door neighbors with them and are so excited. Another family came with us to a lesson with a family that is just starting to learn about the church. After the lession the member family told us that they wanted to go to every lession possibe that we have with that family. Also we have a another family that we are teaching that is progressing so fast and have already been come to church but just need to get married. They just moved here from santiago argentina 3 weeks ago and have already gone to church 2 times and the activities. The husband has stopped smoking 2 packs of cigaretts daily. I dont know why Heavenly Father is blessing us with all these miracles but I am sure thankful. Elder Merrell and I are having so much fun! Everyday is another day to be a disciple of Christ and invite others
to come unto him. I couldnt have asked Heavenly Father for a better companion. As for me,
Im great. Im learning a lot of great things that are helping me in my mission. I love the spirit that I have been able to feel this past week and all the chances I have had to recognize the hands of Heavenly Father and the Savior in this work. I love them both and want to be like them, but I know I have a long way to go. Thank you for everything. Have a great week!

Dear Family,

 

Things are going great! My new comp Elder Merrell and I are going to town with the missionary work. This past week has literally blown by so fast. Elder Merrell is already one of the best companiones that Ive had in my mission! Everyday is filled with hard work but we are laughing the whole time. Also, the spirit is great when we teach together.

 

We were able to see some great miracles together. We started the week off helping out some elders in our zone and had the chance to go to teach with them. i went with one elder that is about to end his mission and is from Nashville Tennessee, hes a stud! We went out and none of the people we went to visit were home and we had nothing. So we stopped for a quick second and said a prayer that we could find a person to teach. Seconds after ending the prayer a 17 year old kid walked by and we found ourselves talking with him for 20 mins and he invited us over to his house another day. It was a great blessing. I know Heavenly Father listens to our desires.

 

Later in the week we went out to help some other elders in their area. My comp and i stayed together and went out looking for new people that they could teach. we went to work and literally miracle after miracle, Heavenly Father lead us to a house of a family that were being taught by te missionaries about 3 years ago by they stopped coming by. they invited us to come back. ANOTHER BLESSING!

 

A little later in the week my comp and I knocked a door and found a family that has been taight by missionaries too and invited us to come back.

 

Heavenly Father loves us and is helping us in so many way. Miracles happen daily and Im so thankful for this gospel.

Weekly Letter - 04 Ago 2014

Dear Presidente,
I cant begin to say how many great mircales have happened this past week! I feel so good and happy to get out and work. The zone is doing some great things. This past week we presented the Noche Blanca and in one week the zone put 21 new fechas and we have a
total of 37, 30 of which are for 30 de agosto. The numbers are great but there is a spirit here in this zone that is even greater. Great things ae happening but like you have said, we cant forget to give thanks for the things that we have received and to continue progressing. Im loving my time in my area. We just got a new Lider Misional that is pumped to help the work. Elder Merrell and I have been able to some great new investigatores this past week. One was a family of 3 people that we didnt even have to ask to enter their house, they just went right ahead and invited us in. Not only that but the mom of the marimony saw us entering the house and came right over to talk with us too. It turns out that the mom had talked with missionaries years ago and wanted to talk with us. They all accepted fechas and said that this next week they want to come to church. I love miracles! Elder Merrell and I are doing amazing. He gets me pumped! Today we did our compras and I thought to myself that one day we wont have the chance to be companions anymore and it made me pretty sad. Thats why we got to make everyday count and help change this area for the better. Im doing great! I love my mission and am so thankful for the missionaries that are around los cuales I can learn so much. Im excited to help make 5 Saltos a zone of Zion with Elder Merrell.
